Excercising in Korea

The first week we climbed a small mountain within the city limits. The temperature was 7 degrees Farenheit. At rest stops, the government had provided some very efficient equipment that utilizes a persons' body weight as resistance. There were several different types to choose from to get complete workouts. Very cool stuff!
The second week, I used the equipment provided in the city parks everyday. Each workout had multiple resistance type equipment to choose from. After that, I used a huge flat rock in the park to do  step cardio routine for 20 minutes.
Saturday night before returning to the States, Gabe took me to a jazz club called The Groove where I was invited to sing and also enjoyed hearing my son perform two fabulous solos. I am sooo proud.

here is an interview that was shot last week on friday...my son on Korean TV:

Baby Noah February 2012 Korea

My visit to Korea was so amazing. Lots of wonderful experiences, but most of all, getting to know the little man, Noah Lee Fife. Here he is in his friends' Chinese clothes. Noah is half Korean but he has a lot of folks in his life from America and China too. He likes to experiment with other cultures !
We love you , Noah!

lost 20 lbs. in six months!

                                                            BEFORE.....below 156 lbs.

At  156 lbs.
For the past 6 months I have worked really hard to get into a shape that I remembered from 10 years ago. My weight got up to 156 lbs. and all my clothes were not fitting and I have some nice stuff from my years at Saks Fifth Avenue. Through the helpful hints of the owner of The Gym in Forest Grove, Oregon I have achieved great success and have posted this picture to inspire others and motivate myself to maintain a more healthier lifestyle.

5. Korea, What To Do?

I told Nate at THE GYM in Forest Grove, that I would be away for two weeks while I travel to Korea to see my new grandson. Of course I will see his mom and dad but my priority is to see if I can fit that cute baby in my suitcase and sneak him home! He is one of the most beautiful mixed babies I have ever seen. He like to hear my voice when we Skype. I sing to him and talk about how much I love him. He's gonna call me Nana soon.
So, since I won't be around a facility that has excercise equipment for nearly two weeks, it will be important to come up with a routine to stay in shape and not loose ground on this quest to be fit. My son is a Doctoral student in Excercise Science so he will definetly come up with a plan which I will mix with Nates' recommendations.
My son is teaching at a university in Busan, Korea while living in Seoul. He takes the Bullet train mid-week to teach there while his lovely wife and son stay behind at thier apartment.

4. Finally, Nate

He's is so sweet !

He discussed with me the areas of concern and which machines would help tone them using weights. ( I said I needed a smaller butt. )After about half hour of that, I move on to 20 minutes on a cardio machine of my choice where I put my earphones on and listen to the Queby Sisters Band to get me in the mood to move! This helps burn calories longer if you do cardio after weights.

Then Nate gave me a dietary routine to lose some inches and pounds. We had a couple consultations to fine tune it and voila! Now I'm cute!

Thank you Nate and the staff at THE GYM in Forest Grove, Oregon, Dianna, Tammy and Rachel.... not to mention all the buff cops who motivated me.

By the way, it's super inexpensive to join THE GYM! Shocking !

3. Diflucan Prescription

Ok, so along with all the finger peeling was some other underlying issues surrounding the overgrowth of yeast in my system, like a oozing rash behind both my ears and athletes foot which would come and go like an annoying old friend.
My Naturpath and I had another conversation in which the subject of these reoccurring conditions came up again. She said maybe it was time to get rid of the whole deal by taking DIFLUCAN. The recommended dosage is one pill, each week, for three weeks, a total of 3 pills.
I could do that.
Not only did it take care of the ear ooze but I had no desire for sweets of any kind and still don't to this day. It's been 4 months. Over the last 4 months I have lost 16 lbs. started a body building routine with 20 minutes of cardio workout and a body building diet of protein drink with banana, brown rice, meat and veggie, nuts with Greek Yogurt for snack. The afore mentioned dietary items are split up into several meals a day. I stayed on this easily because I had no desire for sugar.
I have to tell you, I look great! I started at 156lbs and am now at 140 lbs.
I am really happy about the DIFLUCAN because I was so addicted to sugars. Now there is no craving, which sure helps a person eat right. I splurge once a week on whatever I want as my trainer, Nate at THE GYM in Forest Grove Oregon told me I could do :)).

2. Anti- fungal liquid

So, the compound pharmacy made me a liquid anti-fungal that I dabbed on for about 3 months. I went back in and told the pharmacist that it did not work, so she reformulated it with an added ingredient that was supposed to make it sort of super strong. Didn't work. The fungus came back just as strong as before.
Deciding to give modern medicine a chance, I went to a traditional western Internist who prescribed an oral med used for run of the mill toe fungus. Having researched on my own, I decided to use it in short increments and see what would happen, not wanting to compromise my liver health. The medication worked while I was taking it, a good sign. But I felt that taking it longer, for several months was not in my best interest long term..
I've lived with this fungus now for over 4 years, as many others on different blogs report similar life span.
By now, I had decided to live with it, peeling, cutting, trimming, biting off the dead skin as my finger tips seemed to die off in chunks. Ugh.
